RANDOM INTERNATIONAL 'AUDIENCE' INSTALLATION

‘Audience’ was conceived by rAndom International and executed in collaboration with Chris O’Shea. It was originally commissioned by choreographer Wayne McGregor for the Deloitte Ignite Festival at London's Royal Opera House in September 2008, and subsequently by Design Miami Basel 2009.

‘audience’ consists of a large crowd of mirror objects. As visitors approach the perimeter of the installation, the mass of mirrors choose an individual they find interesting and follow them with inquisitive, synchronised movement. The selected member of the audience is surrounded by their own reflection, tailed by the by the objects which may nonetheless lose interest and move away. This suddenly synchronised, collective behaviour is beyond the control of the viewer, left instead to the discretion of the mirrors themselves. for more information, visit random-international.com

A GLIMPSE INTO THE RANDOM INTERNATIONAL BOOK BY SOME/THINGS AGENCY

rAndom International's first monograph, which was officially launched on February 8th, 2013, at the Barbican Centre in London, was designed by SOME/THINGS creative director MONIKA BIELSKYTE and produced by SOME/THINGS AGENCY in collaboration with CARPENTERS WORKSHOP GALLERY. The book features photography by SOME/THINGS photographers Nat Urazmetova, MATTEO CARCELLI, and ALEXEY BLAGUTIN.

Since 2010, SOME/THINGS PROJECTS, including SOME/THINGS MAGAZINE, have served as a communication tool for ANTALIS— the largest European group in the distribution of communication support materials— illustrating the versatility of their product ranges in the context of luxury publishing.

Each issue of the publication features a variety of paper stock, using some of the most advanced printing techniques, including four-colour print in random raster and spot colour offset, achieving near-photographic image quality within the magazine. SOME/THINGS also employs advanced production methods such as screen printing, foiling, embossing/debossing, glossy and matt UV lacquer, and matt laminating.

Furthermore, an ongoing partnership with IMPRIMERIE COMELLI and COMELLINK has ensured SOME/THINGS provides clients with the highest-quality printed matter, as well as pre-press production and retouching services, for artist books and monographs, invitations, lookbooks, and catalogues.

In addition to Random International’s monograph, SOME/THINGS AGENCY designed and produced the catalogue for Italian architect and designer ANDREA BRANZI'S exhibition TREES and a limited edition book for Nicolas Andreas Taralis’ SS2013 collection, in addition to all printing and production for renowned Paris/London design gallery, Carpenters Workshop. RANDOM INTERNATIONAL'S 1ST MONOGRAPH | LAUNCH THIS FRIDAY AT THE BARBICAN

Following the opening of the Rain Room installation on october 4th 2012, rAndom International will launch their first monograph at the Barbican Centre, this friday, February 8th. The book, which was commissioned by CARPENTERS WORKSHOP GALLERY, was designed by SOME/THINGS creative director MONIKA BIELSKYTE and produced by SOME/THINGS AGENCY.

Founded in 2005 by Stuart Wood, Florian Ortkrass, and Hannes Koch, rAndom International creates artworks and installations that explore behaviour and interaction. Through the use of light and movement, the studio presents raw fragments of artificial intelligence to encourage a relationship between the converging worlds of animate and inanimate. SOME/THINGS has had the opportunity to work extensively with rAndom International over the last 12 months, with other projects including documentation of Rain Room and their previous show, Before the Rain, as well as a promotional video for STUDY OF TIME 1.

To see more, including other work for renowned Paris/London design gallery CARPENTERS WORKSHOP, see our AGENCY PORTFOLIO.
