Michel François exhibition 'Pieces of Evidence' at CARLIER GEBAUER BERLIN

During Berlin's Gallery Weekend, CARLIER GEBAUER GALLERY presented Belgian artist Michel François' solo exhibition Pieces of Evidence.

The sculptures are based on a series of photographs featuring items of evidence from the basement of the Palace of Justice in Brussels; François presents the 'pieces of evidence' both in terms of their neutral identity as simply 'found objects', and the criminal associations applied to them - their 'intrinsic convictions’.

RAIN ROOM BY RANDOM INTERNATIONAL LAUNCHES AT MOMA

RAIN ROOM BY RANDOM INTERNATIONAL will launch at THE MUSEUM OF MODERN ART , NEW YORK, on 12 May as part of EXPO 1: NEW YORK, a large-scale festival exploring ecological challenges.

Formerly at the Barbican centre in London, Rain room is a large-scale, immersive environment, a field of falling water that pauses whenever a human body is detected. Visitors have a chance to control the rain, in a fluid complicity between presence and movement, technology and human intuition. Visitors become performers, both together and alone in this carefully choreographed downpour.

Known for their distinctive approach to digital-based contemporary practice, Random International’s experimental, interactive projects are documented in their first monograph, produced by some/things agency in collaboration with carpenters workshop gallery. the cover of the monograph and the rain room installation is photographed by nat urazmetova for SOME/THINGS AGENCY,

ALEXANDER CALDER EXHIBITION AT PACE GALLERY LONDON

'CALDER AFTER THE WAR' AT PACE LONDON FEATURES NEARLY FIFTY WORKS OF ART CREATED BY ALEXANDER CALDER BETWEEN THE YEARS 1945 – 1949. THE artist’s famous mobiles, stabiles and standing mobiles are installed on the gallery’s ground floor, whilst the newly renovated first floor hosts a display of Calder’s rarely-seen paintings and gouaches.

Calder’s characteristic approach to abstraction was prompted by a visit to Piet Mondrian’s studio in 1930. The famous Calder ‘mobile’, as termed by Marcel Duchamp, was first developed in 1931, merging European Abstraction, Surrealism and DadaISM with a fascination with mechanical invention and the forces of nature. the return of supplies of aluminium sheet metal at the end of WW2 unleashed a new force of innovation in Calder’s practice, with works attaining a lyrical complexity of geometrical form.

TONY OURSLER'S 'THE INFLUENCE MACHINE' AT TATE MODERN [PART 2]

American Artist Tony Oursler's The Influence Machine is a large-scale multimedia installation, which explores the history of virtual image production and the influence of technology by experimenting with video, smoke machines, a variety of soundtracks, and several sculptural elements. Originally commissioned and produced by Artangel, and developed with the Public Art Fund, The Influence Machine was recently donated to SOME/THINGS STOCKIST TATE MODERN, along with several other works from the Artangel Collection.

A GLIMPSE INTO THE RANDOM INTERNATIONAL BOOK BY SOME/THINGS AGENCY

rAndom International's first monograph, which was officially launched on February 8th, 2013, at the Barbican Centre in London, was designed by SOME/THINGS creative director MONIKA BIELSKYTE and produced by SOME/THINGS AGENCY in collaboration with CARPENTERS WORKSHOP GALLERY. The book features photography by SOME/THINGS photographers Nat Urazmetova, MATTEO CARCELLI, and ALEXEY BLAGUTIN.

Since 2010, SOME/THINGS PROJECTS, including SOME/THINGS MAGAZINE, have served as a communication tool for ANTALIS— the largest European group in the distribution of communication support materials— illustrating the versatility of their product ranges in the context of luxury publishing.

Each issue of the publication features a variety of paper stock, using some of the most advanced printing techniques, including four-colour print in random raster and spot colour offset, achieving near-photographic image quality within the magazine. SOME/THINGS also employs advanced production methods such as screen printing, foiling, embossing/debossing, glossy and matt UV lacquer, and matt laminating.

Furthermore, an ongoing partnership with IMPRIMERIE COMELLI and COMELLINK has ensured SOME/THINGS provides clients with the highest-quality printed matter, as well as pre-press production and retouching services, for artist books and monographs, invitations, lookbooks, and catalogues.
