THE GUIDI COMMUNITY PROJECT PREVIEW EVENT AT SOME/THINGS SECRET [PART 1]

Following an exclusive feature on the GUIDI leather tannery for SOME/THINGS MAGAZINE CHAPTER005, in 2012, SOME/THINGS AGENCY was commissioned to conceptualise and produce the GUIDI COMMUNITY PROJECT, featuring images of fascinating and unique personalities who have incorporated GUIDI products into their lifestyle. Photographed over the course of 12 months, the project involves the collaboration of select GUIDI stockists worldwide.

Conceived as an ‘imaginary community’, it provides insight into the lives of GUIDI’s customers, photographed in the homes, workplaces, and favourite locations of leading figures in industries such as music, finance, science, technology, medicine, architecture, and cuisine, including FRANCINE MAISLER— casting director for THE USUAL SUSPECTS, TREE OF LIFE, and THE FIFTH ELEMENT, AKIHISA MATZURA— one of the most renowned music producers in Japan, HIROYUKI MURAKAMI— concept developer for Toyota’s Partner Robot Division, RICCARDO BRUNI of leading textile company Lyria, as well as SANDEEP DESAI— the Chief Financial Officer of CITIGROUP GLOBAL MARKETS JAPAN.

One of the oldest tanneries in Italy, GUIDI was founded in 1896 by Guido Guidi, Giovanni Rosellini, and Gino Ulivo. Still one of the highest-quality leather suppliers in the world, Guidi's own production line is headed by Ruggero Guidi and includes shoes, bags, and accessories. While the tannery is renowned in the fashion industry, providing leathers for some of the most acclaimed designers, the COMMUNITY PROJECT is intended to show the diversity of clientele for GUIDI's own products. Ultimately, through the portraits of these personalities, the GUIDI COMMUNITY PROJECT also documents their cities, producing a unique reportage of Florence, Hong Kong, London, Los Angeles, Moscow, New York, Chicago, Paris, and Shanghai.
