NAMED AFTER THE ROLLING STONES FOUNDER & GUITARIST BRIAN JONES & the infamous mass cult suicide in Jonestown, Guyana; THE BRIAN JONESTOWN MASSACRE WAS FORMED IN SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA IN 1990 BY ANTON NEWCOMBE, Matt Hollywood, Ricky Rene Maymi, Patrick Straczek, and Travis Threlkel.
IN 2004, THE GROUP WERE SUBJECTS OF THE DOCUMENTARY FILM Dig!, directed by Ondi Timoner. Compiled from seven years of footage, DIG! follows the developing careers of THE BRIAN JONESTOWN MASSACRE & THE DANDY WARHOLS, as well as the relationship between their respective frontmen Courtney Taylor-Taylor & Anton Newcombe.
