HUSSEIN CHALAYAN AW2013/2014 SHOW DURING PARIS FASHION WEEK

Born in Cyprus, Hussein Chalayan moved to England with his father at age eight. Later attending Central Saint Martins College of Arts and Design in London, Chalayan soon gained notoriety with his graduate collection, titled 'The Tangent Flows' [1993], which featured a series of decomposed garments that had been buried for six weeks and exhumed just before the show.

After working with Björk in 1995, Chalayan was awarded 'British Designer of the Year' in 1999 and 2000. In 2006, he was appointed Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire [MBE]. In addition to having his work exhibited at the Victoria & Albert Museum, Tate Modern, and Venice Biennale, Chalayan has also collaborated with luxury label Swarovski, German sportswear brand Puma, as well as LADY GAGA.

Hussein Chalayan's AUTUMN WINTER 2013/2013 collection combines daywear and evening apparel into a single garment, with the pieces transformed via a release at the neckline.
